2015 Happy New Year/Reflection of the Past

2014 was such an amazing year, I don’t think I ever wanted it to end. A small recap of our 2014. In March we found out we were having a girl, which was perfect since we already had a boy. In July Lillian joined our family. Less than a month later we found out we were moving back to Michigan, our home state. In October I became a contractor at the market research firm that I would become a permanent employee at in December. So many good things happened to our family thanks to God!

What I am looking forward to in 2015:

  • Buying a house, we have rented for soooo long
  • Celebrating 10 years of marriage by going on a cruise without the kids
  • All of the activities we will be doing with the kids when the ground thaws 🙂
  • A girls only trip to Disneyland
  • Finding my inner athlete

Some of my 2015 changes (no resolutions):

  • Moving more
  • Finishing 4 scrapbooks
  • Reading 12 books
  • Eating healthier

I have more resolutions, but these are the ones that are the most important to me. There is nothing this year about losing weight. I am hoping by making small changes in my life there will some results. I have been told by doctors that all of the plans out there won’t do anything for me. I just need to make health changes, just need the will power and determination!

I do have one more goal. I plan on blogging once a week so that I can write more about Disney, family activities and just life in general.

Happy New Year and I hope that you had a great 2014 as well!

A Tale of a Fall Field Trip

I had the honor of accompanying Logan on his first pre-school field trip to Blake’s. If you live in the Metro Detroit area I am sure you have heard of it. But for all of my friends who don’t live in the area, Blake’s is a cider mill and orchard. Logan’s cousin, Connor, is also in his pre-school class, so he will be profiled in some of these pictures. First, we had to do our photo ops. I am sure we will be back next year to see how tall he is 🙂

Next it was time for Logan to have his first taste of Michigan cider and donuts.

It was then time for the “train” ride out to the orchard to go pumpkin picking and apple picking.

Then it was time to play. There were animals to pet, trains to conduct and things to bounce on.

If you have children and need something to do, I suggest taking them to Blake’s for the day. The play area is around $10 per person, but it is worth it. I hear weekends are busy, but during the week it was not crowded at all.

Weekly Weight Update

Even though I thought I had a bad week by not eating what I was supposed to, I still lost 2.2 pounds. I am hoping to stop the snacking that I have been doing. This weekend will be a challenge since I want to go eat out. I will need to bring this up to my Jenny Craig advisor. I am also struggling with eating the same things over and over. I need to start eating real meals again. That is my only complaint, I want to make some of my own food.

I have also started to work out. I went to the gym yesterday and walked for 25 minutes before I worked an hour with my trainer. I am soooo out of shape, which I hate being. I plan on going to the gym tomorrow as well to do another 25 minutes and the exercises that the trainer taught me. I am trying to get to the gym three days a week. Two days are for weight training and one day for a Zumba class. My sister, Katie, and I are trying to get to a class this week.

A Season of Change

As fall 2014 approaches, now is the time to start blogging again. Since my last post a lot has changed. Brian and I had a beautiful baby girl on 7/7/14, then I  quit my job before I was supposed to get back to work so that we can move back to Michigan at the end of August. That was a lot in less than two months.

It has been quite a ride the last week. Poor Logan was hit with the Enterovirus. He ended up going to the ER and spending the night in the hospital. He is doing better with the breathing treatments he received in the hospital and is doing at home. He gets to go to on his first preschool field trip this week, and since I am not working yet I get to go with him! I will be sure to put a post on this blog all about it.

I am also making some personal changes with this move. I am working on getting back into shape since I haven’t been in shape in almost three years. I have joined Jenny Craig and I lost nearly nine pounds this first week. This past week has been a struggle so if I maintained I would be happy. I am hoping to blog about my weight loss journey as well.

I am also going to focus on my career. In Virginia Brian was able to focus on his career, while I had a job. I am hoping to either to get back into Market Research or start a new career. Either way I want a job where I can grow professionally and show my daughter that you can have it all (a family, a career and happiness).

Hope you will follow along on my families new journey!

The Year of the Andrea

Well, another year has passed and I am a year older. Monday marked my 36th year. I have decided to mark this “The Year of the Andrea”. I have two years until my 20th high school reunion and my 10 year wedding anniversary, and 4 years until my 40th birthday. So now is the time to make some change.

The first goal, which is something that I have been struggling since I was a child, is to lose weight. I have plans to join a gym in September and start working out there 3 days a week. On the days that I can’t make it to the gym I will be using my treadmill or do a yoga tape. I do plan on joining Weight Watchers again soon. When I don’t know. But it will be by the end of October. I am putting it out there. I want to weigh 175 pounds. I can’t even remember the last time that I saw that number.

Second goal, to find my happiness. Don’t get me wrong I am happy with my family, but there are many areas that have suffered for so many years. It started when I lost my job nearly five years ago. Since then I have been in a slump. It took years to get the job I have now. And it is a job, not a career. I miss having a career, having a place to go where I am challenged and have a role. In the next year I am hoping to get back into workforce. It doesn’t have to be in Market Research, but I do want to make what I used to make to help contribute to my family like I used to.

Another area impeding my happiness is the lack of connection I have with people. Since I moved down to Virginia I have attempted to make friends, but that hasn’t worked out too well. Even before Logan was born, and Brian was working, I would be alone. I am hoping that we have an opportunity to move back to Michigan, that way I can reconnect with my old friends. I would love to have play dates with my friend’s kids. Before moving here I was involved in so much. I need to get involved again in activities.

There will be more that I want to change in the upcoming year. But this is a start.
